Design systems exist so teams can stop solving the same problems again and again. Used well, they free up time for the problems that are actually new.
Used too strictly, they can make every screen feel the same, even when the moments they serve are very different.
Consistency without sameness
Consistency is about behaviour people can predict: the same action does the same thing, everywhere. It does not require every page to look identical.
Leave room on purpose
The best systems are clear about what is fixed and what is open. Structure where it helps people, freedom where it helps ideas.
